Crying, knowing and understanding it
Why does the baby cry? How to understand the reasons for crying and help the child
Because the baby cries
Sometimes we would like him to be able to speak or at least to make gestures, but we must resign ourselves … for at least 12 months from when he comes into the world, he will communicate crying ! But why does the baby cry ?
Our child will cry to show hunger, sleep, desire to be changed, but also malaise and fear and we will learn to distinguish each of these needs.
Crying of the newborn causes
Newborns often cry because they feel the lack of physical contact and therefore need to be lulled, or because of the air in the stomach. In both cases it will be necessary to pick him up. To expel the air, a position that relaxes the abdomen will be useful, while a walk and rhythmic movements, like a massage, can reassure him.
It is important to remember that the newborn still has memory of life in the belly, when he was practically always walking and had rhythms (such as the breath and the heartbeat of the mother). Recreating similar conditions, therefore, helps the child to calm down, to feel protected.
Calm the crying of the child
It is always a primordial instinct to generate children’s love for the pacifier . Sucking is a natural action that makes them feel safe. Although the theories on the use of this instrument are different, it is good to grant it when the child has real difficulties, for example in sleep or when he has a colic. If the child becomes accustomed to the use of the pacifier, it is advisable not to use it as a universal remedy, but to try to limit its use to situations that really require it.
The importance of the environment
A calm and serene environment is another element that greatly affects our son’s state of mind, too strong stimuli such as lights or invasive noises can upset him.
These precautions can avoid, or at least reduce, the chances of our child crying.
In any case, understanding the needs of their children is a natural ability of mothers and grows with them.
The mother has the right to have uncertainties and fears, the people next to her, husband, grandparents and friends, can help her manage any insecurity.
Mom and Dad will learn their son’s language and soon they will be surprised to even anticipate needs and requirements.
Crying in older children
Another chapter in the relationship of parents with crying opens when the child grows up and no longer has only tears to communicate. The children soon learn to use it as a weapon of exchange and the real difficulty will be to deny it.
The secret is to always distinguish the crying from the whim and not give in to it.
On the other hand, a lot of attention must be paid in evaluating. Crying may want to convey a feeling of unease that the child lives and that he cannot express otherwise.
These signals, as with neonatal crying, must be decoded. The only winning weapon is to always listen to what our children are trying to tell us.
